Axis - more than just a surveillance system
A camera can simultaneously serve as an image source, an event sensor, an analytical device, and a component of a larger security system.
Axis devices equipped with machine learning and deep learning processors can perform advanced analytics directly at the edge of the network. AXIS Object Analytics allows for the detection, classification, tracking, and counting of people and vehicles, with the generated metadata available for further analysis and integration with other systems.
For organizations, this means the ability to design systems where devices do not just record video, but provide actionable insights into what is happening in the monitored environment.

In security systems, resolution is not the only factor that matters. Lighting conditions, contrast, object motion, and the ability to preserve scene details are equally critical.
Axis utilizes technologies such as Lightfinder 2.0, Forensic WDR, and OptimizedIR, which support obtaining detailed images in very low or variable lighting conditions, as well as in total darkness. Zipstream technology reduces bandwidth and storage requirements while maintaining the image quality essential for security applications.
At squareTec, we select specific models, lenses, and features based on the installation site and the information required from the footage.
One device, many functions
Axis cameras can combine video, analytics, audio, communication, and event response.
The Axis system allows for building solutions that utilize various types of devices:
- fixed and dome cameras,
- PTZ cameras with auto-tracking,
- panoramic and thermal cameras,

Network-connected devices are part of the digital infrastructure, which is why securing them is also critical from a cybersecurity perspective.
Axis develops its own AXIS OS and the Axis Edge Vault hardware platform. This includes secure boot, signed firmware, and cryptographic key protection. Axis also publishes information regarding vulnerabilities, SBOM, and the software lifecycle.
In squareTec projects, we incorporate Axis devices into a broader network and cybersecurity architecture, covering aspects such as communication methods, administrative access, segmentation, and integration with the rest of the infrastructure.

Axis also develops network access control, intercoms, and audio systems. Access control solutions include door controllers, readers, I/O modules, and management software, with an IP architecture that facilitates integration with other systems.
